trythisonemv Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 If you head down to crane be very careful. There are active reds. It's tempting to target one of the large trout that are nesting and spawning but please don't. They are creating the future of the creek and will have enough problems with all the rain coming in this week. Remember to walk on land as much as possible especially at the tail out portions. trythisonemv Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Nope. They start around end of December and continue trough February from what I've seen. I think certain strains spawn in spring in other places. Probably due to water temps and quality.
trythisonemv Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 Anyone been down since the flood? I wonder if all the redds got washed out and how it will affect the stream this year?
grizzly Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 These trout have been through just about everything: drought, floods, heat, farming, DDT . . . . I think they will be ok. Maybe not a great brood for next year, but these trout are survivors.
trythisonemv Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 Its almost time again for the spawn. Remember to be careful and eatch your step. The creek is super low right now so its going to limit spawning grounds. They should be hungry prior to the spawn though. Its the best time of year in missouri for trout! BilletHead 1
Harps Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Might be a good time to just leave them alone. Lancer09 and trythisonemv 2
