So it's 12:46 A. M. and sleep ain't happening and I'm screwing around on the Computer.  But what to my wondering ears goes zooming by but a Bass Boat on Dec. 23 at very high speed !

Hard core indeed, but hey, it is (amazingly) 59 degrees and the Moon is bright thru the openings in the clouds !

I stayed out a little after dark (off the water about 730). After dark, I had one good bass grab the a$$ end of the Rat 50, right at the kayak and missed it. Lost another good bass at the bow and landed a 15.25" Ky on the BBZ1 Jr floater.

we fished until about 10 last night, but for us was pretty slow.  4 shorts, and one big chunk.  all on jig 15 to 20 feet.  lots of shad up near surface, but not on the bank, and i saw lots of activity around them.  water temp was near 54.

You fish more at night than any other fisherman I know.....why do you do it? Do you feel you can catch more fish at night most of the time?

He must put lights on his lures so the fish can see the lures at night..

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

I know you can use Stren clear blue fluorescent and a black light and you can see the line....it looks like 1/4" rope above the surface.

night happens to be when i most often can get away to fish.  but, on any clear water body of water, the bigger bass always tend to be more active at night.  the water is just about to the bottom limit to find active bass at night.  but, next year when the water temps hit 50 degrees again, the better bass will be right up on the bank at night, in particular after a warm sunny day.  the shallow rocks hold heat and attract crawdads.

summer time night fishing is fairly easy to comprehend.  avoid the heat, and avoid the daytime traffic.  i am way to grouchy to put up with all the summer time traffic anymore.  it is like a zoo out there, and it really is a wonder that there are not more accidents.  i often wonder if these same idiots operate their vehicles in like ways.

by the way, i use fluorescent line in the daytime too.  i really believe there is way too much emphasis on the bass not seeing the line.  if they see that well, they can see all the other phony attributes of our offerings.  i have always put more emphasis on fishing the right depth at the right speed to trigger a strike.

I completely agree with you Bo, I believe that on any body of water that a group of bass only feed at night! And in my experience average size is much larger than day average. These fish avoid all the traffic and noise of daytime lake activitie and move up to feed at night. I have caught 95% of my biggest bass at night.

I much prefer night fishing during the warmer months myself. Not only the quiet, less traffic, and more tolerable temps, but something about being out in the dark makes everything much more intense, especially when all your senses really kick in to make up for the lack of being able to see. Plus the fish (especially the big ones), tend to be more active and much more attainable at night.
