Skeeter ZX190 Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Put in at Orleans Trail at 10:30 am. Fished a few spots in that area. Caught 4 bass with one of them being a 16 incher. Moved toward the Little Sac and caught 7 more. 3 of the 11 came on a Megabass 110 +1 in Pro Blue. The others came on a wiggle wart that you can see in the attached picure. Water temp was from 49 to 51.3. Beautiful day to be on the water. I found the fish in the back half of the two major coves I fished with one of those being Orleans Trail. In Orleans Trail I didn't catch anything east of the buoy line. I would say every bass came in 4 to 8 feet of water. A big shout out to btlifes2short. Because of his report from the 21st and 22nd, it helped me focus on the wiggle wart. I had to change colors several times until I found one they liked. Looks like old man winter is about to show up. Colder water temps are on the way. dan hufferd, Lifes2Short and Quillback 3
Walcrabass Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Skeeter, OK, I have about 8 million Wiggle Warts but I don't have that one. Do you happen to have a model/color number ?? Seems like the "good" patterns are harder to pick up. SOunds like you had a good day...... it will be awhile before I get back to Orleans or the Aldrich direction because of holidays etc. Hope this rain doesn't knock things off too much !!!! Happy New Year and keep sending the reports. Walcrabass
Skeeter ZX190 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Walcrabass: I have no idea what the model or color number is. Been too long ago that I bought it.
Quillback Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Looks like that WW may be Orange/Brown Craw, V658, or very close to it. Nice bass pic!
Skeeter ZX190 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Here are a couple of close ups of the wart. It is brown on the top and sides and yellow on the bottom.
Walcrabass Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Quillback, I've gotta agree. Think you nailed the pattern. Mr. Skeeter, Now you have got my interest even higher. I see the jewelers work on the bottom of the lure. I assume those are lead suspendots?? and a little bit of lead wrap too?? Please don't tell me you have made this thing suspend. Because if so I can see myself at the kitchen sink for a few hours trying to get some of them to suspend. Gotta admit this is probably a great color for Stockton. Seems like anything in the more true Crawdad colors are a hit there. Wally
Skeeter ZX190 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 Walcrabass: Yes those are suspenddots. I was just trying to get it ro rise very slowly, which I did. What's wrapped around the hook is the same stuff, just the part between the actual dots. Doesn't look very pretty but it got the job done. Hammer time 1
Walcrabass Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Resourceful yet not wasteful........ my kind of Bass fisherman....... Sure glad they didn't suspend...... I would have been in for a l-o-n-g night. Wally
mjk86 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I think suspend dots are common in warts. My grandpa left me with several old wiggle warts and several of them are the same color with various amounts of lead added.....if you post that pic on the table rock forum someone will tell you the model and color. There are sure few experts that will chime in.
Old plug Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 They made and may still make a suspending wiggle wart. I hd one did not like it.
