Sore Thumbs Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Fished the Winter series today and had a tough day. Fished the lower end. Top 2 bags came from same area. 18.91 with 6 fish won it. I tried multiple spots and techniques. I always struggle in the lower end and just can't figure it out. Any suggestions?
Guest Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I struggled this afternoon. Best looking water was rocky branch to rambo. I didnt run all the way to Lost Bridge, but probably should've. PC was ugly & cold.
J-Doc Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 PC changed almost overnight this weekend. It got muddier somehow. Current draw most likely because there was no sudden surge of inflow. I hear ya on the lower end. It is one of the reasons I do think fish tournaments on Beaver. Someone always dials them in and just blasts away with a good bag. I cannot compete with that. I'll admit it. Some guys just have a knowledge of the lake I'll never know I guess. I typically stay closer to PC and Rocky Branch areas. I know I can catch bass there. Need marine repair? Alex Heitman Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I'd be willing to bet they were caught on a crankbait or jerkbait. dtrs5kprs 1
Champ188 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 The guys that finished second, also with 18 pounds, say they caught them all on Rock Crawlers. Then again, one of them's dad designed the Rock Crawler. dtrs5kprs and J-Doc 2
J-Doc Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 ^^ I could see that. His Dad is also a jerkbait master. That's really some stiff competition. He's on his way to a pro tour I bet. Heard he's been on fire lately. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. Sore Thumbs Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 I threw an RK,megabass 110,jig,Ned,drop shot and my partner used shakey head, spinnerbaits on top of those things I used. I think we just had issues locating quality fish. That's on me. Just venting a little.
Quillback Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Did you get a chance to do some pre-fishing? Can't say it is this case in your tourney, but usually you will be competing against guys that have been out on the water quite a bit before the tourney. Really tough for a Saturday fisherman to be competitive in these bigger tourneys, I'm not saying it can't be done, but that's a tough row to hoe.
Sore Thumbs Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 I hear ya Quil. I won't have that kind of time til my kids get older. Dan the fisherman 1
