LarrySTL Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 No pics, no scale, no nuttin..for whatever that is or isn't worth. Two different fish, one a drum from LOZ on a mainlake point around the mouth of the Gravois on bass tackle and a medium depth crankbait ( I think it was an old Bagley DB II, but memory fades) I would guess it at about 12 lbs. The other was a buffalo from a generic looking cove on Pomme on a Deep Wee R. My biggest anywhere was a regular old carp flipping a 1/2 oz jig and some kind of craw trailer to a shallow stump row on Carlyle ( yes the black bass capital of the universe), and hooked ) a carp that had to be 20 + lbs. On about 30 feet of 25 lb old Stren and a flipping stick. That was exciting. http://intervenehere.com

I snagged a buffalo on LOZ 2 springs ago when the water was super clear in mid May. We were sight fishing to cruising bass and I saw it off in the distance. I casted to it because I figured if it was a bass it was gonna be a giant. Somehow I snagged it right in the lower jaw on a neko rigged 4.5" worm. 8 lb test spinning rod. Thing must have been at least 20-25 lbs. Landed it but the slimy bastard slipped out of my hands before we could get a picture. One of the best fights I've ever had.
holleybob Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Laker that is a beautiful fish. I think you take the prize !! I have a couple that are memorable: 50 in 35 lb(approx ) Northern Pike from lake Medford near Waussau Wi. Caught on a white buzz bait while fishing a bass tournament. 40 lb braided line. 30 minute fight. Never would have come in without the braid. Had no idea I was fishing a trophy Northern Pike lake. 45 lb King Salmon From the Milwaukee River caught on a gaudy Las Vegas fly on a 6/7 weight St. Croix rod. Another 30 minute fight. We were both spent! 35 lb lake trout caught in an unnamed river in the NW Territories on a spoon the size of my hand. 10 pounders were as common as pond perch. It was cool! All were returned safely although the King was gonna die anyway. laker67 1
holleybob Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Uh - oh.. I just read the "caught in Mo" part. I guess I'm disqualified. Sorry.
