Al Agnew Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Maybe they're not baiting, but just adding scent to their fly, which is also illegal, I believe. But trout are big on scent feeding as well as sight feeding, and I'd bet that using scent on a nymph would catch fish the bare nymph wouldn't. Since I never fish the trout parks, I don't really have an idea what to do about supposedly finicky fish in them, but going to extremes sometimes works...either go really small with your fly (which also means going really light on tippet to match the size of the fly), or go big. Just don't use what most everybody else is using...try stuff that's considerably different. And avoid the slower water, fish the faster, shallower water, places where you can't easily see into the water. That's where the fish are that are most likely to be feeding.
fshndoug Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 There is an old saying that 90% of the fish live in 10% of the lake. There is another saying that 10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish.Figure out which one applies to you. Please keep using mono so I can catch 90% of the fish. laker67 1
DainW Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Sounds like first move is to invest in some flouro tippet....
podum Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I use 2 and 4 pound Vanish flouro for tippet. It works just fine and is cheap. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
