Ham Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I have some interest in a Power Poke Micro for use with my Trout boat. Not for sticking in a high current spot. I am thinking about a variety of fishing spots not just the White River. Has anyone used one? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members Ccox1982 Posted February 8, 2016 Members Posted February 8, 2016 Ham, I've been thinking about mounting one on my Shawnee for some time. I haven't heard anything about them and would like to know something before spending the money. I did find this.Found a few other brands as well. Lot cheaper since its manual. Around $170 for both the mount and the fiberglass pole. I'm kinda leaning towards this idea. Ham 1
dtrs5kprs Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Think I would go homebrew on a small boat. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3pMlLShVUo Lot of different poles could work, and I've seen the "bracket" be as simple as a piece of rope with a big marine "O" ring attached. Those just loop through your cleat.
Ham Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 Max-Gain Systems.com has parts to make fiberglass rod shallow water anchors. dtrs5kprs and Ccox1982 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
dtrs5kprs Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Cheaper, and relatively gremlin proof. Lighter too.

It's probably cheaper and much easier to go with the kit. Works great. I would suggest two poles and a rigid cleat for each but you could get away with a rigid cleat on the front only. If used in current areas, it helps if it is mounted perfectly center on the bow. Will be putting it on my personal boat at some point. Plan to do two 2 piece poles and two rigid cleats. Works best in clay and muck. A pipe wrench helps if you get a little heavy handed when setting anchor. I don't have much gravel around here so your results may differ. "Kit" ? I was leaning towards the King Pin brackets. I would go front and rear with them. Gonna think about how much height I need in the front and how much setback on the rear one. I can make the 8 footers less expensively. If I decide I needed to go with 12 footers, I think it would be better to go with the King Pin poles. I need to decide if I would use it enough to justify both the expense and the rear bracket being in the way all the time. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. grizwilson Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Been looking at this, the pole would need to be sturdy so when I step on it does not break. It would need to float so when Got Muddy kicks it overboard you can find it.... would need a soft enough bottom to stick it in, either gravel or mud. Think the mud is where it would shine. But never used one so just guessing and thinking out loud...think you should go for so I can see how well it works.... g Ham 1 “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
