Eric82 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 My dad and I went to Montauk Saturday for the last weekend of C&R. We both had a pretty good day with soft hackles and pine squirrel leeches. I brought down the boo rod. Anyways I got this little guy in some riffles not far below where the Montauk spring comes into the river. Do you think it's stream bred or a daring baby escapee? Haha. I would think with the amount of trout in the park there could be some successful spawning.. It has the par marks and intact fins.. jackdizo, Flysmallie and Tim McDougald 3
Members jackdizo Posted February 8, 2016 Members Posted February 8, 2016 @Eric82 I would imagine and hope it could be a stream bred fish. I caught one similar and in that general area around a month ago down there. Either way, beautiful fish... I love those smaller, more wild looking fish when I catch them... thanks for the photos! snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Nice pics. Thanks! Could've washed out during the flood in December. But I like the idea it was stream bred. Pete Eric82 1
Eric82 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Me too. Fishing the smaller blue ribbon streams is my favorite. They ain't big but the color, etc make em trophies to me!! snagged in outlet 3 1
Eric82 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Yeah from what I heard none of the rearing pools were affected by the flood at Montauk. I could be mistaken of course.
