Dude! That is one hog of a spot! They're a blast to catch a lot like smallmouth to me. Have any of you guys had a run in with a mean mouth? I'd heard of a small caught out of Joachim creek.

Actually everyone is gonna attack me now but I love spots.  I let it go in my lake.

I enjoy catching them. It's great if they aren't having an impact of the smallmouth spawning. Kudos to you. Now you got at least one sweet spot in that lake of your hog.

Unfortunately; yes.  We've caught them from St. Clair down.  We actually caught four yesterday with one weighing close to 2 pounds.  That's the most we've ever caught in a trip.  They're not a good thing for the river IMO.

I agree with you. I have no problem with people culling the spots to preserve the smallmouth fishing. I wasn't sure how big of a problem it was in the area as I've haven't yet got the opportunity to fish that stretch of the river. I'm pretty much confined to wading lol

A lot of people have no idea what they are. I showed that spot to a guy I know on the river yesterday and he almost freaked on me  first off he thought bass season was closed. Then he had no idea what a spot was!!!  He was fishing with a rooster tail so that kinda says it all.  I think I knew what a spot was when I was 10 years old.  I catch more mean mouths below rate 66 than anywhere
