Quillback Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 HAHA, funny Moguy. Cubs are the favorites this year, but they are the Cubs. I would like to see the Red Sox play KC in the ALCS. ness 1

David Unnerstall Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Hey when the Cubs last won the World Series in 1908 does any body know who broadcast the games on radio?
bfishn Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 KXNEVER :-) The '08 series was several years before audio broadcasts on radio became common I can't dance like I used to.
David Unnerstall Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Correct -- radio wasn't even invented. But before I cause a wave of bad karma in Bird-land that '08 team won 116 games in a 156 game season. I believe Cleveland or maybe Seattle won 116 games but that was in a 162 game season. So those '08 Cubs were the best team ever in a single season. Norm M 1
David Unnerstall Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 And then there is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xBxZGQ1dJk Steve Goodman sings "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request". bfishn 1

The team 2 years earlier in 1906 was the one that won 116 of 156 games and has the best season winning percentage ever. Of course they lost in the World Series that year...LOL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best_Major_League_Baseball_season_won-loss_records David Unnerstall 1 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
moguy1973 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Baseball stats are amazing. While looking for that info above it got me thinking about all the 100+ game winners. An amazing stat and something that is interesting about 100+ game winners is that in the last 30 years there has only been 3 teams with 100+ wins that have won the World Series. Of the losers 4 of those have been Cardinals teams (1985, 2004, 2005, and 2015).
