merc1997 Bo Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 well, spring is here and from now on there will be a daily rise and fall of water levels of at least two feet. this makes fishing very difficult to say the least as fish do not know where to go. at least there is a daily crest when all the boats have got on the water, and then towards dark there is the falling water to deal with. welcome to spring fishing! all the parking lots at the ramps are full. look for ticket booths on points and banks to get your number to fish behind all those already in line. for those that are fishing in the narrow confines of a creek or river, just calm down from all the idiots that come right by you on plane. they are just watching their side scan as they come by to see what you are fishing and mark a gps way point. who says cheaper gas prices do not help the economy? i have not seen all the ramps so full and busy for a lot of years. since the lake is busier, please know the rules of the road when meeting an oncoming boat. i had to shut down and stop because an oncoming boat yesterday did not bare to the right . idle by those in the creeks and rivers where you are running way to close to be on plane. in the kings above jackies, that is anyplace. well go figure out how to deal with the daily up and down water levels and enjoy. bo Muddy Water 1
Bill Babler Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Bo, that was pretty close to my rant of 5 yrs. ago about the ramps at Viola and Sweet Water. As you suggested, it never fails this time of the year. Even with all this attention, even with all the ramps full and all the lake cabins with boats in their docks going at it, there is room for everyone if people would just operate their boats and their fishing methods in accordance with common sense and courtesy, treating people like you would like to be treated. There are enough banks and outside bank locations, that no one need to crowd or fish in front of anybody. You do that you are as much to blame as the next guy. You want to fish a bank, wait politely or go behind. How close is to close? If you even have to think about, "am I pulling in to close?" then you probably are. dtrs5kprs, 176champion, Bassmod and 4 others 7 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Champ188 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 You have to keep an open mind and adjust to the conditions. Boat traffic is an unpleasant reality of spring fishing. How you deal with it determines whether your trip is successful or not. 176champion, *T* and Ranger Z22 3
inshore Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I just go fish Stockton. Eric the awful fisherman, Flysmallie, Ham and 1 other 4
Sore Thumbs Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Yeah. Fisherman died at Conroe recently. Both boats going approximately 45 mph. They didn't yield properly and hit each other.

Guest Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 People should be required to pass a boat driving class & carry a license. Just like a driving a car, you have to get a drivers license.
