Brian Jones Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 The bite was off from what it had been for us. But we still managed to have a good morning. Highlight was this beauty that my buddy landed. It measured almost 21 inches long and weighed 4.98 lbs. on the rapala digital scale. It is his biggest smallmouth. Water was a little dirtier than the week before but still pretty clean. Water temps were 42.6 when we put in and between 45 and 46 when we took out around 12:30. bkbying89, Mitch f, MOsmallies and 4 others 7
Mitch f Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 That fish is a pig, ties my PB Missouri smallie! You're killing me! Going once a month doesn't cut it for me, but with the baby coming, I have no choice! Brian Jones 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Members BronzebackWarrior Posted February 29, 2016 Members Posted February 29, 2016 whoa that is a really beautiful fish, care to elaborate what lure and presentations you fellas use to coax these awesome fish out? thanks for sharing these outings Mitch f 1
Al Agnew Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Given that 20 inches is a true trophy Ozark river smallmouth, when you get up to 21 inches and (for all intents and purposes) 5 pounds, you're talking a truly spectacular fish. Maybe not quite the fish of a lifetime (I've caught a number of them that size and a little bigger over the many years I've fished the Ozarks), but certainly a special angling milestone. Smallieguy87 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Wow what a fish! I'm trying to imagine what it feels like to hold one that size lol my biggest to date was right at 18'. Very impressive! Thanks for the great report. Hog Wally and Mitch f 2
