I fished for 4 hours this morning. caught 4 shorts and 7 keepers. 2 on a jerk bait, 1 on a jig. The rest were caught on small crank bait. If you didn't hit the bank, you can't catch the fish. Crank it slow all the way to the boat. I was about hurricane bridge a few miles. largest around 5 in pic.

Good job Fat Cat. We fished Niangua / Little Niangua / Linn Creek for nothing worth reporting. Cleanest water was in the Little N.  Arig, jerks, jigs, and some warts did not get it going for us. Dock talk after we quit and watching some of the BFL weighin sounded like we should have been slinging the spinnerbait. Still nice to get out, wet but enjoyable day.

FAT CAT when you said  hit the bsnk if you were giving advise there are not capital  letter on here large enough to emphsize that point. That is typical of LOZ  this time of yeaf.

96 CHAMP----- I am not worried about it clearing up anytime soon anymore. i am worried about it EVER clearing up.  I have live 30 ft from the gravois arm for close to 25 years and NEVER EVER seen anything like this.

I agree OP; I have seen the creeks settle out in a day after a heavy period of rain.  But THIS is going on 3 months....I really would like to see some clearing.

I say leave it dirty now, when water was in 40s and dirty I didn't like it, but now with warming water leave it dirty, these fish are shallow and will be. Actually water is clearing a bit around 28 mm compared to what it was. Have not been out in a while but that is about to change ?

When we got the big flood in December alot of heavily stained water backed up in LO.  This isn't typical "muddy water" where suspended particles are causing the murkiness and when the particles settle the water clears back up.  What we have here now is water that actually has permanent color to it (like tea/coffee).    It can only clear up by being replaced/diluted with clearer water....and that's gonna take awhile.

The Niangua cleared up pretty quick because, for one, the dirty water from the Osage did not back up into that arm of the lake as much, the current coming in from the Niangua river was almost greater than the current coming down the Osage.  And secondly the clearer flow from the Niangua after it fell out quickly began to push the mud and stained water right back out.

Smaller tributaries like the Gravois, Glaize, ect. just don't have the volume of flow to replace the heavily stained water as quickly.

So in short, LO isn't going to clear back up until it has a complete transfusion.  And like Warrior said.....I'm good with it now that it has warmed up.  Warming heavily stained water is conducive to some awesome shallow fishing.
