Muddy Water Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 At the risk of opening up a great big can of worms; would the green colored fishing lines work better than fluorocarbon? I noticed a few reels at the OA tournament yesterday with green line so I was wondering it it made much difference. I've never used green line other than braid. Note: The two boats I noticed this green line in did not weigh a fish, so was it the line or person using said line the reason for not catching a fish worthy of weighing ...
Ham Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I use both, but I also use Chartreuse yellow Nanofil for my finesse fishing (with a fluro or green co-poly leader) so my opinion on this subject may be suspect. Blll Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Personally I don't find much difference in catch rates between green or clear line. I use both but to ID line weight. Clear =10# or 12#, green = 14# or 17#. I don't think the line color would be the deciding factor on using Fluro or Mono. JMO Muddy Water 1
mixermarkb Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I love green Sunline Sniper flourocarbon. It's a confidence thing, but I'm convinced the green dissapears better than clear underwater. Fish24/7, big c, shark bait and 1 other 4
moguy1973 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I use green P-line CX Premium and it's a great line. I think I catch more fish than when I used the clear Yo-Zuri. mixermarkb, MOsmallies, ranger185 and 1 other 4 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Members jcioni Posted March 15, 2016 Members Posted March 15, 2016 I changed to 4# green to better see the line when crappie fishing. Twitches on the line are very visible when the bite is very light. It hasn't affected the catch ratio. Muddy Water and Nitro 750 2
Fish24/7 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 what mixer said, maybe it was green fluorocarbon. Muddy Water 1
176champion Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I use green trilene XL mono....maybe thats why i dont catch no fish...lol Muddy Water and Nitro 750 2 I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
MOsmallies Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I also use moss green colored P-Line CX Premium. Always had confidence in it and never have issues with it. I love it enough that I buy 3000 yd spools of 8, 10, 12, and 15 lb Muddy Water 1
chi0082 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Green is one of the last colors to disappear in water. So it is much easier to see subtle strikes by fish. I use it when fishing for crappie in winter or walleye, but always use a flouro leader so the fish don't see it. I've had great results and have detected strikes I would have not seen with clear line. Just my 2 cents anyways. Muddy Water 1
