I understand the law as four fish per angler per day with no more than eight in possession at any time per angler.  My house of 4 could have our 8 walleye possession limit per person given each bag is labled with consv. Info number of fish etc. That would mean we could legally have 32 walleye in the freezer but couldn't keep anymore walleye till we consumed some of our possession limits. I assure you this is never the case at my house, I have 3 fish eating machines including myself. Plus I give my elderly neighbor and both grandparents fish as requested. Fresh is best in my book. We usually eat them before they ever make it to the freezer.

That is what the "fish bowl" was invented for.  Sometimes take 2 or 3 night to get the bowl full enough for a cooking.  Always someone you know who will appreciate a couple wally fillets.

I hope everyone can understand my intent by asking this question. I want to understand the law better, so that I would not be in violation of it. Judging from all the different answers, asking this question may have helped more people than just myself.

Thank you all very much !

I think you can keep 4 each day and only have a total of 8 fish in the freezer

Ya  straighten this    Out

If I fished 3-30 till midnight and had 4   But stayed at lake and iced my creel    And then caught 4 on morning of 3-31     I feel I'd be legal     ???

You are in the next day so I say legal. Now that you have eight you are done until after the walleye dinner.
