Despite having lost 20lbs this year, I'm still a little big for my Coosa.  It's fine floating the creek and paddling around, but when it comes to making long paddles I feel like I'm pushing a lot of water, especially carrying gear.  I weigh 230 right now.  I'm not into kayak fishing bigger water except one time a year, and that's fishing on the back side of Fort Morgan on Mobile Bay.  Last year I did a couple of five or six mile days out there and it about killed me.  This year I'm going in September and I expect it to be a LOT hotter.  Normally I'd just buy another boat, but with a five month old and a big shop project that's running over budget, I just have a lot higher priorities.

Anyone know where I could rent/borrow a Hobie or a bigger boat to take with me to Alabama in September?  I fished the little lagoon with a guy who had a Hobie last year and man was that sweet.  I was paddling my arms off and barely keeping up with him pushing his legs at a leisurely pace.  I've looked around down there a little and don't see anywhere to rent one.  I suppose I could buy one then immediately turn around and sell it.  But the problem is I don't think I'd want to sell it!

I think that's a Coosa hull design issue. Mine stays bogged in. You ARE pushing a lot of water compared to a Tarpon  or Cuda hull.

I agree with Ham, the hull design on that boat is like pushing a barge through the water!  The width makes it stable bu it really sacrifices speed to get there.  I have paddled around in one of the Hobies with Mirage Drive and it was amazing how quick it was.  They are a hell of a lot heavier and are pretty spendy but I want one!
