Ryan Walker Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Fished Taylor again this morning. Started at 0600. Caught a keeper walleye right off the bat, followed by a bunch of whites, including a couple of good females. Ended up with 34, kept 8 and caught another keeper 'eye. Clousers, no sink tip this time. I didn't follow my own advice and immediately started fishing to fish I could see when it got light, and actually started catching them again when I fished the slack pools below or above the fish... Cold front blew in about 0900, but I was about done then anyways. Stopped at the big bend below Taylor and caught a couple more before the rain ran me off... Conservation was out today. Good to see them. I wish he would have been there Monday evening. Did anyone else see the guy in the new jon, with a Merc jet prop, all dressed like an Orvis model? He was quite possible the most inconsiderate, unsafe boater I've seen. One guy was wading the first shoal above the boat ramp, and Mr. Orvis ran by him, not once, but twice, at flank speed. Not cool and very unsafe. chi0082 1
crappie_adams83 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Next time that happens report him to the authority's take a pic of the hull number if every body had a pole and a fish on the line there would never be a war
MOPanfisher Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 While maybe unsafe I don't know that any law was broken. I never thought twice about the guys who would run past me while wading, as long as they weren't so close I could hit them with my rod. Figured they needed to stay up on plane. Good report, some females and a couple eyes make for an excellent trip.

He got a good chewing on by a couple of boats for running to close. Somebody on the bank hollered at him for running their lines. Just not a good sportsman. I'm done complaining now..;-)
MOPanfisher Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I hear ya, jerks can cast a shadow on an otherwise good trip. If he was weaving through people and boats and running over lines it a wonder someone didn't wait for him with a pocket full of rocks. Some years ago I don't remember the river not far outside Miami OK, we spring fished for whites and the number of people and boats almost made it impossible to get up on plane and run the riffles but you didn't dare run through folks lines, they would have been waiting for you at the gravel ramp under the bridge.
duckydoty Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 The fishing can be fantastic at Blunks, but the crazy people are the main reason I try and stay away from there. Seems like there is always some drunk guy hollering at his wife or trying to fight someone. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners

Last time I was going to go down there I was having a conversation with a guy about it and he told me to make sure I took a gun. And this is not a guy that you would expect that from. I'll pass. But I will say that the entire James is getting bad like that. I'm not knocking JRO because they are great people and do a great job and I'm sure I will use them for plenty of trips this year. But that great job is bringing more people with low or no morals to the river. It's not their fault that people don't know how to act. It's just hard to make it down that river without witnessing something you shouldn't have to.

I've had a romance with it since I was 13. I just choose to stay away during the aluminum hatch. LOGROG 1

"you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
