Members crappie-hunter Posted April 6, 2016 Members Posted April 6, 2016 I have been fishing Stockton over the past year, and have been following this forum for approximately the same time frame. Is there a map floating around that has all river arms and major coves labeled? I have been able figure out some of them, but sometimes you guys could be talking in Chinese for all I know! I figured "zarrapedia" might have the knowledge that I lack... dprice 1
MOPanfisher Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Look for a Fishing Hot Spots Map. Usually stores around the lake have them. crappie-hunter 1
zarraspook Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Like MO said "Hot Spots" map are the best.. The best online is http://webapp.navionics.com/#@6&key=kc~bFbgdyP If you can give me some of the names you are looking for; I can look them up on my Hot Spots maps and give you directions... I also have a 1975 Topographic map of stockton that has some data that Hot Spots don't... You can ask here or PM me....... crappie-hunter, slab slinger and LoweSTX175 3 "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
slab slinger Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I have had many chances to fish with old salty sticks over the years that thought me names of areas that are not on any of my maps. I've never seen the "Tater Hole" on any maps but if you ask a lake Iocal they can take you right to it. Wish they would keep the old time names going on the new maps. I would love to see your 1975 topo map. I bet it's neat to it compare with the now. crappie-hunter and dan hufferd 2
zarraspook Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I know what you are saying... I had an older fellow take me to the "O" hole and we limited on Crappie in 24 minutes !!!!!! crappie-hunter and dan hufferd 2 "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
MOPanfisher Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Many times a cove or spot get re named by someone. I have named lots of spots simply because of something that happened there. Sometimes the name sticks with others, sometimes not. Basschomper 1

Nobody else would ever have a clue where they were. And you never had to even say what lake they were on. You could just say the ditch. And we both knew that was on Pomme. Or the highway, which is an old road bed on Fork. Or church which is an old submerged town on Falcon. Rarely did we use any names on a map or names that other people gave them. It wasn't to keep it a secret, it just happened. By the way on Stockton the State Park Pond is one of my favorite smallmouth places of all time. It is neither a pond nor a state park. crappie-hunter 1

Course having a cryptic name for your favorite spot may be the whole(hole) point.
Members jimalert3 Posted April 9, 2016 Members Posted April 9, 2016 Call Rolla mo for the 1975 map Zahra was talking about. They may still have them. MO geological department. This maps has everything that was there before the lake was constructed. crappie-hunter, Ham and slab slinger 3
