m&m Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Great advice about checking the line. I use fluoro on the 6# & 8# and I am forever feeling for nicks in the line. If I am unsure if the nick will snap, I merely hold the lure in one hand and hold the line above the nick in the other and give it a quick, hard snap to simulate setting the hook. If it breaks, I am ahead of the game. Takes very little time to do this but it sure ruins my day if a fish breaks me off. Mike magicwormman and dtrs5kprs 2

Mike my issue is that jerking or pulling on the line to test it, stretches it at least some (fluoro less than mono of course). In that amount of time I can almost snip it, retie it. It's all what you get used to and are comfortable with. Even fun fishing because I don't fish tournaments anymore, I retie after every fish and every hang up. "I'm Haunted by Water"
mixermarkb Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 +1 on the retie. If I feel a nick or even a big kink in my line, I'm cutting off and tying a new knot. It doesn't take that long to tie on a new bait, and baits get expensive! dtrs5kprs and flyrod17 2
