Stump bumper Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Click here This would be very good news IMO if it happens.
moguy1973 Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Link doesn't work. I think it would be bad IMO. BPS is getting too big of a head if you ask me. ramman123 and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Stump bumper Posted May 1, 2016 Author Posted May 1, 2016 Think I fixed it, nothing for sure yet, but I would like to see the Cabela's in Rogers turn into a Bass Pro myself. Blll 1
moguy1973 Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Yeah, it's from last Fall. Then BPS teamed up with Goldman Sachs not long ago to put a bid out to buy Cabela's. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-cabelas-m-a-basspro-goldman-sachs-exc-idUSKCN0XG1V0 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Deadstream Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Cabela's just announced plans for a new store in Lee's Summit,Mo. That will make 2 Bass Pros and 2 Cabela's in the Kansas City area. Who is buying all this stuff? ness 1
Mike jones Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Even if Bass Pro and Goldman ends up buying Cabela's, I don't think they would squash the name. It is an established name..jmo though.
jdmidwest Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Cabela's was king of the mail order business. Bought out Gander Mountain's mailorder many moons ago. Gander Mountain came back with store fronts, something they did not have in the past. Cabela's has lingered in the store fronts. Bass Pro has built up in store fronts. I think a purchase of Cabela's will strengthen the Bass Pro name and company as a whole. Go Bass Pro. bferg Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Consolidation is usually isn't great for the consumer. But I can see where it might make sense from BPS perspective- I moved here from Colorado and I can tell you that Cabela's is to the Rocky Mountains as Bass Pro is to the Ozarks. podum 1
Stump bumper Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 My biggest grip with Cabela's are the prices, if you ever catch me in a $50 T-shirt please have me locked away. Bass Pro has shifted to clothing over fishing but not as bad. ness 1
