Hunter91 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Was out fishing Kimberling area today. First fish I caught had a ned rig head coming out its anus. Later on my partner caught another fish that puked out a whole ned rig head and bait! Whats up? marcus 1
Members deeredude64 Posted May 2, 2016 Members Posted May 2, 2016 I lost a decent large mouth in the kimberling city area a couple days ago on a Ned rig. As soon as the fish surfaced and flopped the bait either came untied or broke at the knot.

Had a lot of folks throwing our heads in that Tyson derby too. Might have been some sketchy line in use. All but one of mine were on days when wind made it hard to stop and re-tie, at least while alone up front. Some of those days retying was equal to blowing 100yds down the bank, or into a dock. mixermarkb 1
mixermarkb Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Lol, you guys sound like 6# line is something new Dave invented, I've been fishing Bull Shoals with 6 and sometimes 4 pound test for well over 20 years! Hardly ever break a fish off either, same as Dave and anyone else who picks up a spinning rod on a regular basis. Wet your line when you tie, set your drag, and fish! Had the same issues til I switched to the Xi5 with pinpoint GPS. It tames wind to 20 mph very well. mixermarkb Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I bet that's an awesome trolling motor. I have a first generation pinpoint trolling motor in the late 90's early 00's that was really cool when it was working. I can only imagine with the way technology has improved that the current product would be totally amazing

Bull Shoals was the first Ozark lake I ever fished. Bud Erhardt routinely fished a jig and pig on a spinning rod and 4#-6# line. I was shocked when I found out how opposed to finesse and light line folks were at TR. Not all, but many. Guess that is the legacy of trees and largemouth. mixermarkb 1
mjk86 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Guess they can survive digesting ned rigs. Thats good news!
mjk86 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 The light stuff is great at table rock where your catching all open water fish on flat gravel bottoms. Ill often rig up an ultra light rod with a split shot n crawler with 2 or 4# line. Just loosen that drag and enjoy a good fight from a good fish on light tackle. IMO its way more fun doing that than using 50# and catching a 1# bass with 4# of millfoil and lily pads on it...which i still do lol.
