My wife and I launched at about 6:00 and headed to Clevenger.  Started out throwing Whopper Plopper and Redfin, nothing on top water.  We then threw swimbaits and spinnerbaits no luck there.  Wife went to the Ned and I threw the spilt shot rig with a green pumpkin fish doctor.  Had the boat setting in 20 to 25 feet of water and casting to the bank. The bite ended about 9:30 when the sun got higher in the sky.   We were off the water by 11:00.  All the fish was caught on the Ned or spilt shot rig.  We ended the day with 10 bass, 3 keepers, all was smallies except for 1 spot.  1 of the smallies was a 4 lbs. and 12 oz. my biggest smallie to date.  Water temp. was 69.  It was getting crazy with all of the pleasure boaters, it was like a holiday weekend.

very nice fish, the water looks kind of gooey in the picture,

It is gooey!!!!  It is pretty brown looking.  You can see down about a foot or two.

That looks like the brown algae bloom. Little different than that ugly green sewage look it had in places. I'll be shocked if a consistent top water bite gets going in that colored up water.

That stinks.  We will be heading down this coming weekend and will be staying near Jake's Branch.  Hopefully that bloom doesn't mess things up.

I was down this weekend as well. Did pretty good with the Carolina rig. Brush hog. Green pumpkin. But what seemed to be a must for me, was tipping it chartreuse about an inch.  I was sitting the boat in 12 feet casting at a 45 toward the bank in gravel pockets. Good luck to everyone.  I too stayed in the dam area.
