Stein Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 NIce article. I haven't fished these yet and they weren't available in my local BassPro so I just ordered half a dozen packs of Z Mann TRDs and 1/15, 1/10 and 1/6 oz ShroomZ jigheads yesterday.

Keith is one of our own. The TRD will work, but the cut Zinkerz is the real "real deal". Cheaper, softer, float better, and are more durable than the TRD. Keep an eye on the Zman heads for corrosion at the keeper.
Stein Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Thanks for the info. That's what I get for not asking first! I'm out of my element on these things.

The TRD works, it just didn't prove to be better after a year of use. I had two nice days with it last month, simply because I didn't have that color available in the cut stick. Had a good discussion of the TRD versus the cut stick with Ned this winter. He had also moved back to the cut version, for the listed reasons. The biggest difference in the two baits is the salt content. The Zinkerz has the highest salt content of any Zman bait. The TRD has much less. The salt will wash out, leaving the Zinkerz/Zero much softer. Has a lot more inherent action when it is just sitting on the bottom. Pricewise, the winner is the Strike King Zero. Exactly the same bait as the Zinkerz, but usually $0.50 cheaper per bag, roughly. Few different colors between the two lines, but the basics are the same. InPiney 1

I would expect a minimum of 25 fish per bait before any real damage is done. Brown fish will rough them up a little quicker. When you cut the sticks, you end up with 12 baits. Pretty cheap entertainment. magicwormman 1
jpb2187 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I've found the colors without flake are the most durable. The colors with lots of flake and glitter almost seem to dissolve after lots of fish.

johnm Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Shroomz head and trd worm is perfect for your child to catch fish on spinning reel. Cast out let sink and then they eat it. Now I am talking mainly farm ponds is what he has used it on. My son is 3 and he is able to catch his own fish on the terd rig lol Ham and mixermarkb 2
