merc1997 Bo Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 have not had time to put in what is going on, but here is run down of what has been going on the part two weeks. the last week of the dark of the moon was pretty slow. there was a bit of activity on the light change, and then it became a very long time before bites. got out a couple of times and had four keeps both trips, but they were 3 to 4 lb. range. moon got back in the evening sky and it got good again. fished three times during the week and it was lots of fun. several 5,s, lots of 4,s and 3,s. did not catch anything on anything flat or in a cove. they were all on the part of the bank where the channel was the closest. very few up on the bank. most from 6 ft. out to 15. water temps 70 to 73 surface. did catch a few on the CrazyBlitz when they were really inactive by cranking and killing it. the vibration would get react and make a pass at it and once in a while they would get it. only caught one bass that was flat bellied and had a tail roughed up. all were fat and slick including the kentuckies. as bill has posted about catching so many out in the lake chasing shad during the day pretty much goes with what i have been saying about the spawn. next week could see a major wave hit the bank, but looking at the extended forecast, with the cold nights for a few days, and the rain next week, it may not happen. alex's post also indicated that many just might be fishing too shallow and night fishing is saying the same thing. when you are catching your quality bass 6 to 15 feet at night, for day fishing this time of the year, i always doubled my night fishing depth for day fishing. those bass that bill is catching out chasing the shad also fits right in with doubling the night bite depth for day fishing. that would compute to 12 to 30 ft. alex caught his quality bass 20 ft. at night those same bass will at times move in to feed up on crawdads for the extra protein to get ready for the spawn. here is what few pics that i took. took one of linda for sure with here biggest bass to date. she found out that those bigger ones can make you hold onto your equipment. also, a couple of pics of the same old brown and blue jig that we have been using. bo Alex Heitman, dtrs5kprs, magicwormman and 5 others 8
