From the Prongs to Alley.  Nothing much to report on the fishing.   Fair at best over the trip although did pull a 17 incher.  Many many people on Saturday, gravel bars must have been full. Unfortunate enough to have a group of three guys camp about 150 yards from us who talked in loud voices for six straight hours (geez, they liked John Wayne & MASH and complained about pay and their wives).  It was very hard not to yell STFU, but thinking that would have not been overly positive.  Pretty inconsiderate.

Here are a couple of pics.  Used different shutter speeds.  The one of Jam-up in the afternoon as light gets back there plus I bought a couple of flashlights to light up the waterfall.

Great pictures.  I always want to bring a good DSLR with me on my trips but I am so worried about it winding up in the drink! 

Sounds like a good trip aside from the mouth-breathers who set up camp next to you..

I take mine everywhere. As long as you have a good dry bag or Pelican case you can keep it protected. I keep mine wrapped in a towel inside a dry bag most of the time. It spends a fair amount just laying on my cooler with a towel thrown over it though. Maybe not the best thing for it but I bought it to take pictures and I float where I want to take pictures so.....

I an leaning towards just getting a go pro hero 4 silver.  I know that may limit me but I can honestly say some of the gopro pictures are just as aesthetically pleasing as ones taken on a DSLR.  I also wouldn't have to worry about it getting wet either!

They do take good pictures. The only thing I don't like about them is the wide angle view. Can't zoom in on anything unless you do the Fred Flintstone zoom. 

There are some good waterproof point and shoots on the market that take some great pictures. You still have the video capabilities of the GoPro with better options on taking photos. I just sold my GoPro last Friday and am currently waiting the arrival of a new  waterproof Olympus. But I'll still carry the DSLR too.

Pat - I bought my wife a Olympus Stylus Tough a couple of years ago that has performed really well for me. Pictures are decent, but I don't have to worry about dropping in the water or on land and damaging the camera.

Yeah, unless you're mainly getting it for the video capability and the still photos are incidental, I wouldn't get the GoPro for still photos.  It's far too limited as far as framing the photo and most of the photos taken with it will look unnaturally wide angle, with distortions of things like waterlines.  A good waterproof point and shoot will give you photos that are almost as good as a DSLR, and they all zoom from mild wide angle to mild telephoto.  When I did the Grand Canyon raft trip last fall, I took along a waterproof point and shoot (Nikon), a GoPro, and my cell phone (which is in a waterproof case).  Of the three, the point and shoot took the best photos, and my cell phone took better ones than the GoPro--I was forced to use the GoPro for stills when I ran out of battery power for my point and shoot.

Nice Pics.  I still need to do that upper float.  I have always wanted to see Jam Up Cave.  Your pics makes it really look interesting.

Its a shame that there was that big of a crowd and fishing was poor so early in the year.  Maybe in October if the water is up and flowing would be a better time.  With the way Current River and Eleven Point looked last weekend on 142, I was surprised to see anyone got any floating in that area.  We did the Spring River trip, it was cold and muddy water from Thurs to Sat.
