Gavin Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Can carry 2-3 more rods in the canoe. 3 seems to be the comfortable limit in my Coosa. Rodhder stick up in back and they restrict the range of my back cast occasionally. Works fine with two on deck and one in the left rear rod holder.
Al Agnew Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I really detest the rod holders...Having to worry about a rod in the way of your backcast or when you happen to go under tree limbs is just something else that detracts from the efficiency of your fishing. Fine if you're used to it and the efficiency isn't that important to you. Not me. RSBreth 1
mmirg Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 We just got kayaks and I'm really interested in this event but can't seem to figure out how it works. I tried looking at the Facebook page for info and found some (I'm not great at Facebook) but I can't figure out the details IE:How does the weigh in work, do you post a pic of the fish on the measuring trough to Facebook as you go? Or send pics somewhere at the end? What's the payout? etc. Any info that y'all have would be great.

There's a lot more info on their website: https://showmekayakfishing.org/mo-yak-fishing-series-open-series-and-classic/ -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
crappie_adams83 Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 And the payout is also determined by the amount of anglers but the payouts are more of a cash and prize pack an everybody that enters gets an entry to raffle for a kayak and I think the kayak that is being given away for this one is the ascend h12 if every body had a pole and a fish on the line there would never be a war
yaknar Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 So..... how was the tournament? I went to the facebook page and saw the winners but little else. How big was the biggest bass? How many anglers showed up? How many fish were caught? Do we get to see pictures? I saw a big walleye and lots of goggle eyes were caught, anything else strange? Any area held more bass the other? Lures? Payouts? Maybe I want to know to much....... Mofloatjunkie 1
crappie_adams83 Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 Well guys we had a great turnout we had a total of 26 anglers the biggest bass caught was 17.75" smallie we had pretty much everyone turn in fish no one got skunked and cash payouts to the top three but they gave away prizes to fourth and fifth Place big bass took home almost $200 to place first prize was a Yeti hopper a pair of Smith optics sunglasses and a complete set of bait sacks and cash I don't remember how much cash first place was but still good payouts and even if you just entered and didn't place they raffled off a GoPro 4 and an ascend h12 luckycraft 1 if every body had a pole and a fish on the line there would never be a war

Several "hybrids" that have "Yak" in their name are legal but are canoes nontheless.... oh well. well if you seem to have an Issue maybe you can start your own Paddle group that would allow Canoes but the reason has been explained that they are a chartered group with KBF and some other Groups that are only Kayaks series
