Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 4, 2016 Root Admin Posted July 4, 2016 Guest staying here. Just had it overhauled. Ran good first day. Now it's doing this. I think it's a gas issue- something is choking off the gas when it hits a certain RPM. I'll have to get make and model if needed. It's on an old tracker pontoon. Thanks motor_trouble.mp4
fishinwrench Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Hard to tell in the vid whether it's lacking fuel or loosing spark. Does pumping up the primer bulb bring it back to life ? Or try engaging the choke/prime when it starts to fall on its face. If either 'snap it out of it" momentarily then yes it is a fuel system issue. If not then it's likely an ignition system prob. duckydoty 1
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 5, 2016 Author Root Admin Posted July 5, 2016 Pump didn't work but Curtis told him to spray Carb cleaner in the carb and I believe it worked. He's been fishing all day with 4 units running. Thanks
Members Whiteriver Posted July 10, 2016 Members Posted July 10, 2016 My brother's Yamaha was doing this and a fuel pump kit didn't fix it, so he had the carbs cleaned again by a different shop and fixed it right up. The motor would run great til about half throttle and then just start shutting down. The first shop claimed they cleaned it twice, but the last guy said it looked like nobody had. Dirty bottom carb was the culprit. Oh, you could pump the bubble and it would open up for a while then bog.
