hillbillyflyshack Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 We started at daylight working topwater then progressed to worms, swimbaits, carolina rigs, shallow to deep crankbaits all through the water column with little to now success. Two small bass and a small walleye were all we caught today. Not much of a showing for the amount of effort extended. Don't know what I was doing wrong but would sure appreciate just a little direction if you feel like sharing. Thank you
Dutch Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I don't like the sound of that. I will be fishing all next week at Pommy and sure hoped for some good news. My fishing partner and his family were there last week. He said very few fish would hit a spinner bait or buzz bait. He had to go down and go slow to get them.
hillbillyflyshack Posted July 16, 2016 Author Posted July 16, 2016 I will be there again next week and am hoping for better results as Pomme is a beautiful lake with very little traffic. Will post results or lack of when I get back but right now am puzzled as how to catch them. Good luck on your outting.
oneshot Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Should be better next week, hope they quit bringing the Lake down and it should clear up. oneshot
MOPanfisher Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 If it hadn't come a big rain we would already have shut down to minimum flow. Haven't checked the level today, but with the for cast we should be back down to minimum this week. Hope it makes fishing better.
dan hufferd Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I get my but kicked every time I go there. I am probably just not fishing right. It has always been muddy when we go. My wife and I might try it one more time then we will be done with pomme. I can fish the same way on Stockton, on the same day and bring something home. I just can't get pomme figured out. It is also further for us to drive. I would love to catch some toothy fishes but I just can't make it happen. Good Luck, I hope it happens for you!
Flysmallie Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Pomme is a tough lake in the summer. The biggest mistake most make is trying to fish it too deep. There may be some fish deep but better fishing is going to be shallow. If you fish it like Stockton then it's going to frustrate you. Also if you need it to be as clear as Stockton then it's probably not for you. It's not going to ever be as clear as other area lakes. If you are only gonna give it one more chance then wait until it cools off. It's an awesome fall lake. Pomme has some great fishing but you have to work to find its secrets. The rewards are worth the work. dan hufferd, jim m and bassfisher 3
