Went out at 6 AM. I came back in at Noon. Water temp 88.

I fished seriously for the entire 6 hours. I caught two keeper spots by accident, and another jumped off. I targeted walleye and caught one 24 inch fish that weighed close to 4 pounds.

The walleye hit a trolled crank bait in bone as I bounced it on the bottom in 25 feet of water on an inside bend flat right at the edge of the drop off into the 60 foot White River channel.

Were you longlining?  What type of crank?  If you dont mind me asking.  Ill be down next week.  Last year i caught em decent in the kimberling area on flicker shads 19ft down in a small ditch out over a gravel flat.  Tried flicker minnows, reef runners, and hot n tots to no avail....dropped spoons on em...nothing....but they would eat that flicker shad.

What techniques are you using to get them down that deep?

You guys are asking the right questions. I used a bone colored Mag Wart on 10 pound metered power pro and I had about 200 feet of line out (8 colors) I was banging the bait into the bottom hard as I believe it triggers a reaction bite. That is why I was using the wart - you can grind bottom with those baits and hang infrequently.

well, that would put you in the vicinity of owl creek:).  right around there is where the first 60 water occurs.  oops, maybe i should not be pointing that out:P.  great job of finding those critters.

RPS,

What do you think is the very best time of year to catch walleye on the rock?
