cleaning out the closet where I keep some tackle and found a 2000yd spool of seagaur fc with at least a 1000yds on it. the dilema is it is at least 7 yrs old. it hurts to think I should throw it away. it is 10lb test and still seems hard to break.  what would you do? :(

If it was in a dark closet it will be fine.  If in doubt pull off a few yards, wrap it around your hands and give it a pull.  At worst the outside wraps might be weAK but rest should be fine.  I had Stren that was 15 to 20 years old and was always in the bix, in a junk room, finally gave it away when I switched to braid.

If it has started to break down you will get a white dust on your fingers and hands when you are spooling it.

The shelf life of flourocarbon is alot longer than regular mono.
