Smalls21 Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I recently bought a used kayak, and have found a crack in it, is there anyplace that does repairs? is it possible to buy the stuff to repair myself?
jdmidwest Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Call the company that made it, they will probably have the material to repair. My roto molded Wilderness System cracked one time. Company sent me a piece of plastic that looked like weedeater string and I used a heat gun to weld it in place. Depending on the type of kayak, there may be many options to repair. Plastic weld, JB weld are materials available at any auto part store. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
moguy1973 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 http://www.polyvance.com/kcwelder.php There are several other similar kits out there. It really depends on the material your kayak is made out of if you need an actual welder or if you just need a heat gun. Some are made of medium density polyethylene and some are high density polyethylene. The mediums are much softer plastic and would think they would be easier to fix. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Plastic_worm Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 There are some videos on Youtube if you decide to diy, but I think most dealers do repairs for a fee. OMTC comes to mind. Anyone know of a place or person that can fix it. It doesn't have to be pretty just has to float. Located in San Diego any help would be greatly appreciated.
