I believe he is dreaming about getting a dam built.  I don't see how it could happen in todays society.  Plus the money it would take.  They'd be better off buying the property that floods and turning it back into agriculture.

Thank you for posting this. Those of us that love that river are watching this closely and will be ready to oppose it with great vigor through every legal channel imaginable if and when the time comes.

I generally take the approach of seeing these things as a serious threat until they're not. I hope it is known how much some of us love that river and we are willing to work day and night to defend it from someone that wants to royally screw it up.

It is even more appalling to have this kind of crap come from a local who should know and love that stream. But do you expect anything different out of Franklin County? Don't know why you would.

Another topic where each person argues for their own interests.  One reason I like living on the west side is the accessibility to many, many quality lakes.  However, growing up in The Lou I floated and fished rivers and creeks.  Not so much of that over here, but there is some in swmo.  For a person that loves the lake scene the eastside is not the place to be.  I remember the wars over the Meramec dam.  I think I need a float.

They ran a study over here in SWMO about damning up Shoal Creek to make a lake for the future water sources.  It never took off either.

YES Union Lake

I remember those bumper stickers when they were thinking about doing something similar to this 30+ years ago when we  lived there.

That river is very special to me.

No one is panicking... yet....but there have been a few too many times in the state where what seemed like one person's less than intelligent pipe dream has turned into an actual threat. See MDC defunding attempts. Or pretty much anything the legislature does.

So we'll see. But if it does start to go anywhere I think they will find more people care about that muddy old creek than had been expected.

The time and money involved from what I have seen to even study the feasibility of damning up a creek to form a new lake is mind blowing!  Even IF it ever got approval you probably would never see it happen in your lifetime.

What I read in this article is this is a local group who wants this.  The Core is uninvolved as yet.  I wish this group would lobby the Forest Service to fix Crane Lake Dam, instead.
