Ummm .... Excuse me ..... lol....! I posted a simple question. I wanted opinions of this forum. I did state my dislike for jug lines but i am allowed that opinion. YOU come at me and accuse me of whining and "needing to get over myself. I'll bet if YOU were to have seen the amount of jugs placed in this narrow high traffic area where I witnessed numerous young tubers  forced over these jugs due to all the water traffic you too would think it was a little excessive.

So next weekend when I hit this area I will drift as I usually do. I will keep my distance from them as many responders have advised. BUT ... if I catch a fish and it tangles into his jugs .... the fish comes first because I release 90% of my fish.

And there you go, you have the answer.  Realistically there is not another answer, while not a particularly nice thing to put the jugs there he is legal to do so.  Fish on sir.

Ok, lets review.  I don't have a problem with you having an issue with jug fishermen.  I don't have a problem with you getting on here and expressing that opinion.  What I do have an problem with is you referring to me as lazy.  You said jug fishermen are lazy, I'm a jug fishermen at times.  I have been called a lot worse but felt a need to defend my fellow jug fishermen.  I agree that jugs shouldn't be put across narrow parts of the lake and I, for one, do not do that.  I put my jugs on the edges of coves.  The only problem is that putting those jugs across narrow parts of the lake is not illegal so therefore the only option is to deal with it.  Just for info, I have dealt with jugs on narrow parts of the lake.  Usually between Larry Gale and the 54 bridge there is a narrow part that usually has jugs all the way across.  I had no more right to call you arrogant without knowing you than you had to generalize jug fishermen as lazy.

If you think them catfish boys are lazy go try to whoop ones @ss, and (after you heal up) let us know how that worked out. :D

In all fairness a narrow channel area is a way better place to catch cats than it is to pull your kids on a tube.  There are plenty of great areas to go tubing, so if they choose to do loopty-loos amongst a fleet of jugs then maybe loosing a arm/leg is just the medicine they need to smarten them up a bit.

For a bunch of grown men , you all sure whine and argue a lot. Do what you think is right and deal with the consequences. If I think your jug lines are a hazard (legal or not) I'm liable to cut them and get them out of the way. If I do I'll man up and take whatever comes from it if that's how it goes, I'm a big boy. Common sense goes a long way...unfortunately I don't see much of it being used anymore.

Don't see much common sense in anything you just posted. Cutting legal jug lines. That really makes sense.

lol Fishinwrench that may be so ... but not from the ones I've seen so I'm not overly afraid.!  .... FYI ... if you knew LOZ at all you would know that the west end of LOZ is more river like than lake so there are NO wide areas to do water sports at. So all I'm asking for is just a "Little" commons sense. Especially on a holiday weekend.

Just because it's "legal" doesn't mean it's intelligent or the right thing to do. God gave me a brain so that I can think for myself, not suffer through someone elses idea of what's right because "that's what the law says".  Again, that's the problem with too many folks these days, no ability to analyze situations and use your brain to make an educated decision. Instead most take your approach, the book says it's legal so it's my right to do it. And you would be correct, but it's also my right to use my brain and determine that you made a stupid "legal" choice and deal with it as I see fit.

I'm not saying that I'm gonna cut your lines because they are interfering with my fishing spot, you have as much right to that area as I do.  But if I think they are a hazard to me or the rest of the boating public and you're not around to deal with it.  Guess what... I will.
