Dutch Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I decided to give Pom a shot. I pulled my camper down Friday and hit the water. It was way tougher than Stockton. It only gave up 5 bass. At least one was a 5 pounder. They came on spinner baits. Yesterday I went with a friend in his boat. We fished the dam area and had 6. Most of them were also on spinner baits. Today we are going up the Pom. Codywskeeter1521 and zarraspook 2
Members Conman64 Posted September 26, 2016 Members Posted September 26, 2016 Thanks for the report Dutch, even though its not what I wanted to hear... Please report back on your success up the Pomme. Good Luck! Chris
MOPanfisher Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Pomme has been tough for bass the last month or two it seems from reports. Although I did see some photos from someone who was on the river below the dam in a kayak, and caught some nice ones. The water will cool down and put them on the feed surely.
Ranger520vx Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I really struggled last week but did good in a small tournament Saturday. We culled several times only ended up with 12.39 pounds but was good enough for 1st. and a 4.33 for big bass.caught everything on green pumpkin worms in 5-12 fow. Codywskeeter1521 1
Dutch Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Well that pond kicked my butt every day. The best day I had was 10 short fish on a tube. I did catch one 5# on a spinnerbait in Martin's flat. The good note is maybe in finally got the p2p right on my rig. I picked up 300 rpms and 4 mph by raising the motor 2.75 inches to a 3.75 p2p. The hole shot dropped from 7 to 3.5 seconds which is major.
Jerry Rapp Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 cooler weather helps performance also.
Dutch Posted September 29, 2016 Author Posted September 29, 2016 Yep Jerry. 50° water will make it better but this rig is supposed to be doing 6000 rpms at 70+ in warm weather. The rigging had a 6.5 p2p.
Jbrant Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Tough weekend for me - probably fished around 8 hours. Water temp was 75, pretty clean around the dam. Most consistent bite was on the buzz bait really shallow (cloudy all day Saturday). Caught a couple of small keepers. Had a few fish on a spook and a couple on a brush hog. Lost the only decent fish I hooked (on a brush hog - probably 3-4 pounds). Had lots of misses , they weren't very aggressive (and think they were probably small fish).
