Fished the Meramec below the Bourbeuse for about 10 hours today and, after a SLOW start, had a pretty darn good trip.  Ended up with 16-18 "keepers".  Biggest one was right at two pounds.  However, most were between 12 and 14 inches.  Was also able to remove two limits of spots from the river.  Most were caught by running spinnerbaits along weedy/rocky banks that the sun was pounding on.  If you love those Meramec river smallies and have a chance to get on the water soon, please get out there and take you a limit of these critters out of the creek.

Good job on getting those Spots out of there. That will be a good mess of fillets.

The last few weeks I have been catching a bunch of smallmouth between 10” to 15” and a few over 15” up to 18”.  Mine have been mostly on soft plastics. Has me thinking there may have been some good spawns the last few years.

And this past weekend, with the water getting so low and clear,  I started throwing a hair jig and picked up quite a few on it. Including this big drum which was quite a fight on light tackle.

Also had this beauty swim right up to our boat and then go under the boat and disappear for a bit. Kind of had me wondering if there was any way it could get in the boat. But then it came up on the other side and swam away.

Saw one swim across Big River right above Mineral Fork about a month ago.  Had that dude gotten under my boat, I'd a needed a new set of underoos..................

I was jogging at Route 66 last week and nearly stepped on one sunning on the rock path. Thought it was just another stick until the last second, must've jumped 6ft in the air when I realized it mid-stride. That time of year...
