Sprint21fter Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Thought I would start winning weights for this derby: 43.5 lbs will win. I will be more curious what the cut weight will be to get a check. I would take 18 lbs and run home according to my poor performances the last couple of weeks. I know a couple local anglers who qualified that fish some club tournaments with us may create some waves. It will be interesting. Nothing will shock me with the potential that the lake can produce if a person fishes clean!
Quillback Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I'm assuming it is a 3 day deal?. If so, I would say you'd need around 15 a day. Somebody will get them, no matter how tough it is, somebody always figures something out and gets some good fish. Hammer time and abkeenan 2
merc1997 Bo Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 the weather will play a factor. if the temps drop, and we get cloudy rainy weather, there could be some nice bass caught up shallow. i do know that the other evening, on the lower end of the lake, the main lake surface was small pods of shad as far as you could see in any direction. very good reason that bass seem so scattered and many fishing are finding the catching on the slim side. looks like rain wed. and thur., partly cloudy friday and sat., and sunny on sun. so, the weather alone will make it different each day. i do know a few that have been out practicing and they are having a hard time in finding any bites. someone will figure it out though. bo Codywskeeter1521 1

Will be interesting to see what part of the lake the winners focused on and if they get their fish deep or shallow. From take off at State Park to way up the White is a heck of a run, at least in my eyes. To the pro's it's probably nothing. I remember watching the 2011 BM Classic when it was on the Mississippi Delta in New Orleans. Remember watching video and whatnot with guys running 2-3 hours (I believe it was called the Venice location on the river) before even making a single cast. That's unreal that someone would devote 50% or more of the tournament day in just getting to a location. But Quill is right, someone will catch'em. 45lbs is probably a good guess as 15lbs now is apparently a winning sack and doing that 3 days in a row will be hard to beat.
Sprint21fter Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 I agree with Bo, if the weather forecast holds true the weights will go up. Our lake is known for foul weather fishing. Hammer time 1
Quillback Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 When the Elites were here for that spring tourney, 2 or 3 years ago, I was up on the White fishing on one of their practice days, I was out early, it was one of those quiet no-wind mornings, and in the background I heard the distant roar of outboards. The lake winds around a bit up there so they can be close but several miles away. Anyway the roaring got louder and here they came, probably a half dozen boats, maybe spaced out 1/2 mile between boats. They were flying, I am sure full throttle. Those guys will definitely travel down the lake if that's what they think they need to do to catch fish. Hammer time 1
merc1997 Bo Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 i would rather spend one quality hour of fishing than an entire day of bad. bo Codywskeeter1521, Hammer time and 176champion 3

Was just stating, from my non-tournament fisherman perspective, that it amazes me that they would want to sacrifice that amount of time running instead of fishing. Quillback and Codywskeeter1521 2
Champ188 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 The tournament is Thursday-Saturday. No mention of rain any of those days by the NWS or The Weather Channel. Front blows thru Wednesday night, then mostly sunny skies and light winds the next 3 days. May be about as tough as it gets. Finesse jig and spoon on docks could be strong. Gonna be 200 boats (one pro, one co-angler in each boat) the first two days. The field is cut to 10 boats for Saturday's final round. I'll say 40 pounds. Quillback and Sore Thumbs 2
Hammer time Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I'll say 42-45 lbs deep cranking, fb jigs on rollouts, and spoons and jigs on deep mainlake docks. Quillback 1
