Got out yesterday with my old buddy Lou and we ended up with 23 really nice crappie. It took us all day to get them but since the flw boys were off limits it was a great day on the lake. Found them on bluffs that had pole timber on them. You would just get 2 or 3 here and there. Had to fish lots of spots to catch em. Chart and white jigs about 12 feet deep seemed to be the ticket. I love eating crappie. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Hughesy,

Nice work. My 11 year old and I were out a week ago and found the bass fishing less than exciting.  He decided we should go for crappie. A good decision. We found them scattered also, but catchable. Our deeper brush piles in 15'-18' seemed more consistent for us as long as they were near deeper water. We used Garland baby shad in crystal and ice out.  We had a nice fish fry that evening and added to the freezer.  The best part was adding another day of memories with my son. Nice work on the crappie and thank you for the report.

Those are some nice slabs! Noticed they all seem to blacks, catch any white crappie?

I think there was 5 or 6 white crappie in the bunch.

BrowningColledtor, we tried several brush piles but got nada. But I'm sure its like fishing the trees. You have to be on the right one to catch em.
