Now that the first part of archery season is about to come to a close how did everyone do?

i shot this 12 pointer 45 yards away on 10-30 at 0830. Seen him before daylight ever came up and he was chasing off any other buck that would come close to 1 doe. Had to grunt at him several times to keep him in the area.

That's a great deer. Has quite a bit of antler mass. Congrats. No luck for me yet this year. Had deer jump the string and the latest was a deflection that saved that deer. Haven't seen any bicks like yours running around my hunting area. Have only been out a few times due to the hot weather.

Thanks!

It has been hot for sure. I didn't even start hunting until early/mid October. I have a few bigger ones on camera but with a bow I'm not as picky. Just happy that gun season looks like it will be a nice cool weekend.

I've seen a lot of deer, they just haven't cooperated at giving up good shot opportunities. Things finally came together for me yesterday morning and I arrowed this guy. He was cruising by to my south and I hit him with a few grunts and he walked right in to the base of my tree. He stood there looking for me for several minutes before he walked to my right and gave me a 10 yard quartering away shot. After sending a Grim Reaper through his heart, he piled up about 50 yards away.

It's been pretty slow for me. Seen just a few deer and shot a button buck. nothing of any size yet. Hopefully this weekend brings something.

Wow! That's an awesome 8 pt! Definitely has some real mass. He should be proud of that one.
