Royal Blue Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 So we hit it hard on Wednesday out of K Dock. There were 3 of us in the boat and it started out with a bang. We had 6 all on A rigs at the first stop and even had a triple. Bounced around dragging A rigs across points all the way to Mincy creek picking up a couple here and there. All in all I think we had 26 between the 3 of us with the biggest fish being a smallmouth that was just under 4lbs. We had 9 keeps and I'd say that the best 5 went somewhere around 11-12lbs. Not a bad 4 hours, but it was pretty cold out there. Water temp was 45 at 8:00 when we put in. Sore Thumbs, Fish24/7, Dewayne French and 2 others 5
Fish24/7 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 may i ask how deep you were catching them? see any gulls diving on bait? ty for reporting!
Bill Babler Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Lots of gulls diving on bait, not a lot of fish around that bait. The bait they were diving on are dime size. Bull is on fire right now especially upper Bull down to Tucker for bass fishing. Busters clients on his guide trip out of K-dock had best 5 at 23 pounds including a 7 pounder yesterday on a megabass 110 plus 1 and a football jig. Said they had 14 keepers. Bass were pretty much at the first channel drop at 15'. I found the same thing. I fished from K-dock to Snap and caught a really nice limit of bass on the jerkbait and a swimming minnow with a 1/8oz. head. My best 5 would have been 17 pounds with two at 4 pounds. Trouble for me was I was looking for walleye and crappie. Never bad to catch nice bass however. I will tell you both Buster and I never got within a rifle shot of the bank. Both of us were fishing roll-off-channel swings, fishing the first drops. Good Luck Bassmod, Quillback, Diamond City Fisher and 1 other 4 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Royal Blue Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 We stayed in about 20-30 feet of water and were just slow rolling back to the boat. I did see a pic of a 7lber that a friend caught off of a secondary point in Mincy. I missed a huge bite. It must have slammed it toward the boat and I wasn't ready for it. The thing knocked a ton of slack in my line and was gone.
eyedabassman Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 How long of a trip is it to K dock from say 65 and 86?? Kind of new down here yet?
Bill Babler Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 From the junction of 86 and 65 you are 20 minutes from Kdock and 20 minutes from Tucker, you are exactly right between them. For me the fish seem to be biting better up stream from Mincy up. I'm going to put in a Diamond City and fish down either tomorrow or the next day and see what to make of it. Might go down as far as Buck Creek. Water is a few degree warmer at Tucker. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
