Yep. Like dropping a twin spin. Would be worth slow winding out on some deep places. Humps, roll offs. Hammer time and Quillback 2

Like all new baits, there's a learning curve till you get bit and build confidence. I remember when fb jig came out and I kept trying it and would put it down after 20 minutes or so and go to a c-rig that I have confidence in. Then one day at the mouth of Buzzard creek, I had several nice blacks and one toad brownie dam near take the rod out of my hands. Since that day fb jig is one of my favorite baits! Untill you get bit and build confidence in any bait, there's a learning curve. Donna G, Quillback, Daryk Campbell Sr and 2 others 5

For whatever reason, hair is the deal on it, unless you have some of the old vinyl skirts.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Hammer Time, you hit the nail square on the head. I have watched a couple of using marabou to tie leech flies videos which would I think be similar to tying marabou to spinner baits and under spins (make your own Road Runners, but with better hooks and you'd get better color options also). Don't know if I want to go down that path, I'd have to buy all the tying stuff, not that it is super expensive, but I need to fish that store bought marabou spinner bait, and see if it works (that confidence thing Hammer mentioned), before making the plunge. dtrs5kprs 1

Marabou is pretty easy to work with. In a pinch you could use vise grips and a clamp for a vise, and just wind off the spool. Can cheat the marabou mess by getting it wet. Pull the thread end back through the wrap like on a rod guide, hit it with some 60min epoxy. G2G. From my "things I learned growing up with just a couple of nickels to clink together" file. tho1mas 1
