The pumpkinseed and red coachdog usually draw some interest, as do the flash colors. You've got a couple of 5As off to the right. Bottom pic are 7A. The long TN Shad and natural red look like 8As. Your little guy with the green back is a good color. It's a 6A. Can't remember the color number off hand, but it's something like orange bream. Really amounts to a craw color. Unless you're hiding it, you don't have The Precious. It's a super hard find in the sizes that get fished. Dave, the one in the third pic with the more rounded back and no rattles could be a Fat A, perhaps?

I don't have a clue where or when to fish them. I know the walleye at beaver have moved to the river. And there you have the place to fish the Wally Diver...

Think it's a 6A. It's a screwtail, so it pre-dates the Fat A. Rattle might just be oxidized in place. Good sharp rap on a soft surface (mouse pad) will sometimes free them. Color is "bream orange belly". I've got at least one in the boat, will see if I can find it. Fat A's were great baits. Came through cover great, different profile, lots of rattle. Another one the geniuses at PRADCO killed. Fat A. It's a chunk. The Fat A 6 is a 1/2 ounce bait, regular 6A is 3/8 I think.
Guest Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 My dad would always catch big bass on the Firetiger 5A with 12lb line. He would short cast to stumps, logs & rocks. Its stained water in oxbows off the Lower Arkansas & Lower white rivers. Those rock jetties in heavy current always attracted whites, blacks, kentuckies & flatheads even. So many memories & so many mosquitos.

The 6A is kind of what folks think of as a "Model A", but there are some other good ones. Also a lot of DC'd colors, thanks again to PRADCO. Citrus Shad can be quickly converted to Table Rock shad. The "textured side" rebels were matte like nobodys business. Baby Bass was my favorite color back then. It looked like a green shad in stained water.

Fished plenty myself on the Arkansas from Pine Bluff on down to Merisach, even below the last dam. It's real wilderness down there. Done some fishing on the lower White, too ... Scrubgrass and other such places in the refuge. Fun for all. dtrs5kprs and Ham 2

kjackson Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 The square bill craze probably killed the Fat A. The Fat A was a crank bait made for wood cover. The smallest was the size of a quarter and kinda like the Ned Rig of crank baits. It would catch the fire out of just about everything. Ran across one when I was sorting gear the other day and started thinking about the series. dtrs5kprs and Champ188 2

The Fat 6A and 7A were dynamite for cranking wood, including pole timber. Still a lot of folks using them in TX. Maybe not quite as hang up free as a Mud Bug, but close. Used to have a problem with lips breaking at the body occasionally. Always figured the Fat Free Shad killed it, but it's hard to guess with PRADCO. Their whole deal seems to be offering limited baits, in limited colors, and telling their customers it's all they need. Interesting marketing. Good for Tim's biz. That's another Bomber that was out before they re-labeled it. Used to be the Slim Shad. Still see some NIP. Not all the sizes though.

I spent all of my childhood spring & summer breaks down at Pendleton. We fished the coal pile, post lake, moores bayou & marrisach lake. MLF needs to fish an episode down there in May.
