Hello!

My name is Libby and I'm a new member and somewhat experienced angler. I've fished with my dad all my life, but I'm trying to branch out a little more and fish more of Missouri's waters. I'm in the process of learning how to fly fishing and I'm hoping to learn more about trout fishing in Missouri and Arkansas. I go to school in Springfield, and I'm still trying to figure out some great spots to fish and enjoy the outdoors. I'm getting ready to spend the summer in Yellowstone National Park and I'll probably be spending my time away from work fishing and watching out for grizzlies! I'd be very thankful for any suggestions you can give to someone who is new to finding her own fishing gear and places to fish. And any tips for fly fishing would be great too! Here's a picture of me with a spoonbill I snagged a while back.

Welcome. Lots of good places to fish right around Springfield. Lots of good fly fishing opportunities too if you don't mind catch some warm water species.

If you have questions you will get plenty of answers here.

Hi. Like Smallieflys says, lots of fun catching fish other than trout on the fly rod. Lots of Youtube videos out there that will help you with fishing for given species/locales as far as equipment and techniques.

I would like to spend an entire summer in Yellowstone, so I would make the most of that as far as fishing if I were you.

What weight fly rod/s do you have?

     Welcome to the board LibbyGrace,

Like the fellows above said many fish to chase wit the fly rod around here both cold and warm water species, ask many questions and the people here and the cumulative  knowledge  will get you a variety of answers. As far as Yellowstone and the area that surrounds it we have some knowledge also. When you are ready to go PM Mrs. BilletHead and I. Depending on what you want and are able to do we can get you into all four species of cutthroat in Wyoming. One species will be a drive to more of the South West part of Wyoming but the other three can be caught in a a shorter drive. The four caught will get you a cutt slam in Wyoming. Are you going to be one of the young people that will be working in the park for the Summer?  We actually met a young lady working in the park at one of the restaurants that was from Springfield as we grabbed a meal traveling through the Park the Summer before last. Good luck on your adventure young lady,
