I like gammy # 6 short shank RBME for the belly hook with a #1 split ring. This combo prevents the hook from snagging the bill in mid flight.

I like a #6 spintech on the rear with a #2 split ring. This adds enough weight to make is rise very slowly. It also keeps them buttoned up when they jump.

#5 is THE hook. Owner stinger holds its edge for sure (Jim @ Sportsman's). Gamakatsu and mustad work well too. 5s won't tangle like other sizes. No loss of action on old or new, serious catch rate improvement with owners

not cheap, but worth it if $ is on the line

I've played with KVD short shanks with a 4 on the front and 6 off the back. It works and it a good setup but.................like Alex and BasFis already stated the Owner ST-36 in size 5 on front and back is THEE deal.

I'm a big fan of the #5 Aaron Martens "finesse" gamakatsu. They are a very light wire, and that thin diameter seems to penetrate better for me when they are just nipping at the wart. Can't go wrong with the owners though, and trophy sounds like he's really dialed a setup in as well.
