Johnsfolly Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Went out again with Livie trying to get into some more crappie. Still staying with the go to jig and float. I was fishing green and black jig. Livie fished several colors, shite/chartreuse, black and yellow, purple and pink. The crappie bite was really slow. Water is still fairly cold. I landed only three ranging from 8.5 to 11" in length. I did catch 30 bluegill and two more golden shiners. Livie used new fishing rod and she caught three golden shiners and eleven bluegill. Sorry no pictures. LIvie went to a sleep over and she had some photos on her phone. I will post any that she might have later. BilletHead and Quillback 2
Johnsfolly Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 We got again on Sunday evening back out to Little Dixie for some crappie numbers. Never get much size from that lake, but always can get a bunch. Still using the jig and float combos. Green/black, purple/pink, and white with chartreuse worked again. Livie caught her first white crappie of the season along with another and a couple of black crappie and a bluegill. So far since the 4th of March she has caught 38 total fish and 5 different species; white and black crappie, bluegill, largemouth bass, and golden shiners. I ended up catching 13 white and 6 black crappie. anything longer than 8" went into the cooler for dinner. We ended up keeping 9 crappie all of them were 8 to 8.5" in length. My exciting catch was my first redear sunfish of the season. BilletHead, Quillback, JUNGLE JIM 1 and 2 others 5
