Gatorjet Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 A reply from MDC to a member of the 1Branson.com forum about the jet boat. Sent: Wed, Mar 29, 2017 3:06 pmSubject: AskMDC: Lake TaneycomoMr. (Me),Thank you for contacting us with your concern. The Department also has concerns with the operation of the jet boat on Lake Taneycomo. Our biggest concern is for the safety of fishermen and recreational boaters that use this area. For our staff, we have concerns about operation of our stocking barge being unsafe because of large wakes. Furthermore, waves generated from a boat this size on a narrow lake such as Lake Taneycomo have the potential to lead to shoreline erosion problems and disturb shallow substrates.Staff at the Department have reached out to Empire District, the electric utility which owns the lake, to get more information on what, if any, restrictions will be placed on the operation of the jet boat. We are currently evaluating what options we have to prevent or reduce impacts.Thank you again for your concern. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me.Matt Vitello, P.E.Policy CoordinatorMissouri Department of Conservation573-522-4115 ext. 3191 grizwilson, Deadstream and JestersHK 3 Real men go propless!
