The wife and I are looking to bring her parents down to TR for a short getaway during the month of April (thinking 4/20-4/23).  We usually stay at Rock Lane Marine during our visits to TR, but I would like to change things up this time. I'm looking for a place that would accommodate 4 adults comfortable with a nice few of the lake.  I'm also looking for a place or a location near the condo that we could rent a boat to do some fishing, as the father-in-law is retiring at the end of March and I would like to celebrate his retirement with a little fishing.  Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed at At the Lake Whispering Woods near Kimberling City a couple years ago.  We had one of their smaller rooms but they have bigger rooms and cabins available.  They also rent a fishing boat.

It all depends on location and price. It also depends how much you love your in-laws. Prices range from $50 to $500 per night. The week you picked is usually great for fishing.

might consider hiring a guide instead of rental boat?

It can be expensive if you plan on more than one day, but it's the way to go, IMO.

Gary + Lorene Watson (owners of Whispering Woods) are my neighbors.

Great location on the water with some nice views of the KC bridge.

about 15 minutes into KC, Harter House, etc.

Pretty sure Gary has at least one aluminum bass boat? Problem might be availibility as that is a busy time of year?

But, not really very close to Rock Lane or that area.

Plenty of places near Indian Point, I'm sure?

What these guys said....if you want to spend the $$$ and have something for everyone to do you cant go wrong with Big Cedar.....all kinds of price points with guides and plenty of boats to rent.....but you do pay for the convenience.

I have looked at VRBO (www.vrbo.com) many times and that can be a good alternative for a large group / family then you can go off site to rent a boat etc.

Have you considered going down to Taney and get him on some trout fishing? Lilley's (www.lilleyslanding.com) is a great place and they have a boat size, including pontoons that would be great for a family.

I would be willing to spend $200/night for lodging.

Thank you!  I am familiar with the KC area as well as Harter House.  I will definitely look into WW and maybe make a call to look into the aluminum boat availability.

Me and five buddies come to TRL every year for our annual fishing trip (this year it's next week, 3/28-4/2) and we stay at Holiday Hideaway in Aunts Creek.  Sue and Carl are two of the nicest folks you'll ever want to meet.  They have a couple boats that they rent, and if unavailable I believe they can get one from one of the other Aunts Creek Association member resorts.  We love the place, and it's priced right for us!!
