JohnF52 Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 The folks at USDA released their drought monitor map today. It says most of NW Arkansas in in moderate to abnormally dry drought. Those folks just keep releasing much the same maps time after time, totally asleep at the wheel. According to them we need about seven more inches to break the drought. terryj1024 1
Stump bumper Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 The raising water will make the bass beds deeper and harder to see with the murky water thus protecting them from the FLW. This spring might not be good for fishing but is just what the fish ordered. Blll, mixermarkb and Champ188 3
Guest Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 That's what I saw too. Not the best scenario, I wouldn't be surprised if the FLW boats can't get under the 12 bridge on Sunday.
JohnF52 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Hopefully, none will go south, then be trapped south of the bridge by a rising lake.
jeb Posted April 29, 2017 Author Posted April 29, 2017 Wow, 3.5" in the rain gauge so far just from the storms last night in the PC area. And they're saying the storms later in the day promise to be the big rain producers. I sure hope everyone stays safe, on the water and off. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha

Quillback Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Looking at the radar right now, looks like most of it is passing to the north and east. Maybe more storms will form to the south and move up here later, but we may catch a little break.
JohnF52 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Only 1/4 inch of rain overnight here in the White River headwaters. Heavy rains in the northern half of the lake won't affect the levels drastically. I think we are going to get by with less than 2 inches total in the headwaters.

That would be awesome! But there's a big front just to the west of NW Ark that's training big time. We'll see what that brings here in the next couple of hours.
