jpb2187 Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 With this high water, and reports of people fishing crankbaits, what size line is everyone using for spinning tackle. Just trying decide whether or not to change out the line on my spinning gear for an upcoming trip.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 25, 2017 Root Admin Posted May 25, 2017 If you're throwing crank or stick baits, line size hardly matters at all as far as the fish seeing the line. Unless you're throwing something real small and it's going real slow. Jigs - can use 4 pound line. Our water is not as clear as it usually is this time of year.
Seth Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 We used 4# for jigs and 6-8# for jerkbiats/crankbiats last weekend. My buddy caught most of his fish on a blade bait with 8# test. Line size didn't seem to matter much in the fast water.
JestersHK Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Using 10lb braid on my sticks and cranks for this type of fishing. I've fished them on 4lb as well and never noticed any difference on catch rates.
