ollie Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Ok, so I didn't really break the boat per say, but I did break the seat support hangar. I have never seen this happen before on a boat so I just got through emailing Old Town customer service to see if I can get a replacement. Anyone seen or had this happen to them? Al Agnew Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Dang, Ollie, how much do you weigh? Easy enough to fix if Old Town won't come through. Bolt a little L-shaped bracket onto it. But it shouldn't have done that.
Gavin Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Haven't seen one one of those break before. L bracket might work, but probably drop a long bolt though the gunwale, through the seat and bracket then cinch it up tight. Drill a dowel out to cover exposed threads.

My hardware store has nylon bushings in varying lengths, diameters, (and colors) that are perfect for this. They are tough as hell too, you can't squish or crack them. Back by the nuts and bolts. You can cut them with a hacksaw if you need to.
ollie Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 Update on this. Old Town is sending me a replacement hangar for free. At first they weren't going to since according to them the boat itself is under warranty, but the hardware is only good for a year. After a few emails I convinced them to send me a freebie. They told me they had never seen that happen before as well. I think I will look for a bracket to re-enforce the 2 bolts in the back. And yes, I have a fat arse!
