fishinwrench Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Fished twice, casts beautifully but it just lacks the hook setting power I think I need in a 8wt. rod. 3 9/16oz. 185.00 to your door
Jim Elam Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Wrench, you might consider learning to strip set. Fly rods are casting and fighting instruments, but linear force is needed to set the hook on bony mouthed creatures and the line has very little stretch, is perfect for strip setting. fishinwrench Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Thanks for that, Jim. I just like faster rods capable of higher line speed, tighter loops, and putting some immediate pressure on fish 3lbs. and over. I feel like I lack control with a softer parabolic rod such as this one is. Just personal preference. Just for reading all of that and pretending to understand I will graciously knock 5.00 off just for you. 😀. You'll enjoy this rod since it truly is a sweet casting instrument. grizwilson 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Man I need to sell some fly rods. I must have 20 of them that will never see the light of day. Some brand new and never used. Winston, Sage and a Double L I think. In Sage I know I have VPS and a Light Line that would be a sweet park rod. grizwilson 1
fishinwrench Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 Yeah I have several more that could use a good home now that I've settled on the ones I truly want to keep. Keeping them around for "loaners" is just stupid.
